SPEA Philippines: Grand Opening Cerimony
November 14, 2025 | SPEAEstimated reading time: 3 minutes
SPEA proudly inaugurated its new office in the Philippines, marking a significant step in strengthening its presence in the heart of Southeast Asia’s electronics manufacturing hub.
The opening ceremony, held on October 28, 2025 in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, gathered key industry customers and high-profile institutional representatives. The new facility is strategically established to deliver enhanced local technical support and application expertise for SPEA’s advanced testing equipment, catering to the country’s burgeoning semiconductor and electronics industries.
The Philippines is recognized as a vital pillar in the global electronics supply chain. The country’s Semiconductor and Electronics Industry (SEI) remains the Philippines’ largest exporter, consistently accounting for over 60% of total commodity exports and generating tens of billions of US dollars annually. SPEA’s expansion aims to support this critical sector by ensuring the quality and reliability of electronic components.
In his keynote speech, Luciano Bonaria, President and CEO of SPEA, emphasized this commitment: “Our customers’ base is growing, and their growth is based on innovation and new inventions. We cannot fail in developing the test equipment for their devices so they don’t fail in the field. They cannot fail, so we cannot fail… We believe there will be a strong growth of the semiconductor and electronics industries here in the Philippines, and it is important to be present. And we are here to provide everything our customers need.”
The ceremony was graced by prominent figures from government and industry, underscoring the strong collaboration between Italy and the Philippines in the high-tech sector.
Dr. Danilo Lachica, President of the SEIPI (Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines Foundation, Inc.), hailed the opening as a vital development: “Today marks an important milestone not only for SPEA but for the electronics and semiconductor industry. The Philippines is demonstrating to be a trusted partner in the global electronics value chain, not only in manufacturing but also in providing technical expertise, system maintenance, and customer support for advanced testing solutions. Your choice to develop engineering capabilities locally reflects our potential, and we are proud to see players like SPEA recognize this.”
Davide Giglio from the Italian Embassy in the Philippines highlighted the significance of the microelectronics sector globally and SPEA’s role.
“The critical importance of the microelectronics industry is evident: we all rely on microchips to power everything, from innovation processes to our daily activities. I’m happy to see that an important company such as SPEA is making its footprint in the country, and we look at the Philippines as a next-generation place for the development of semiconductors.”
The distinguished guest list also included Alfredo Pascual and Allan Gepty from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Antonio Macaluso (Italian Embassy), Lorens Ziller (Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines)
Focus on Service and Local Talent
The new facility will serve as a crucial technical hub, managed locally by dedicated professionals.
Roberto Sannicandro, SPEA General Manager and President of SPEA Philippines, commented on the operational vision: “Our focus is to integrate SPEA’s global standards with exceptional local service.
This office is not just a sales point; it is a center for technical excellence and swift support, ensuring maximum uptime and performance for our customers’ critical testing operations. We look forward to working closely with SEIPI and academic institutions to nurture local talents in this specialized field.”
This expansion reinforces SPEA’s strategic objective to build strong, localized partnerships and support the continuous advancement of the Philippines’ high-tech industrial base.
