Nordson Electronics Solutions Introduces MARCH MegaVIA Plasma Treatment System
June 30, 2021 | Nordson Electronics SolutionsEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Nordson Electronics Solutions, a division of Nordson Corporation, a global leader in plasma processing technology, introduces the MARCH MegaVIA™ Plasma Treatment System with a 15-cell configuration for panel sizes up to 30 x 52 inches in printed circuit board manufacturing. With overall dimensions of 1652mm W x 1782mm D x 2326mm H, the new MegaVIA™ system offers increased panel loading by more than 54% with only a 2% increase in footprint when compared to a MARCH MaxVIA™-Plus. The new platform delivers high process reproducibility and plasma treatment uniformity for PCB panels.
“Nordson has set the global standard for plasma treatment in the PCB market for more than 35 years with its industry-leading MARCH VIA platform,” explained Al Bousetta, director of marketing, MARCH Products. “The new MegaVIA™ plasma system builds on the success of earlier platforms with increased process capacity for large panels and minimum use of valuable production floor space. As with other VIA series products, the system provides uniform plasma treatment results to meet rigorous PCB manufacturing requirements.”
The MegaVIA™ system provides plasma treatment at 40 kHz and accommodates all common gases -- CF4, oxygen, nitrogen, and argon -- with high process reproducibility and uniformity. An EPC controller with intuitive Windows® 10 PC-based touch screen HMI allows for a wide range of data collection and control capabilities.
Plasma treatment uniformity is critical for a large chamber system. Higher than 80% uniformity for desmear and etch back applications to both sides of the PCB panels is achieved using the MegaVIA™ system’s power-power electrode configuration, balanced vacuum and gas flow, and temperature management technologies.

PCBflow Helps Designers Choose Best Manufacturer for the Job
03/28/2024 | Andy Shaughnessy, Design007 MagazineI recently spoke with a few technologists who have first-hand experience with PCBflow: Susan Kayesar, technical product manager with Siemens; Evgeny Makhline, CTO of Nistec, a CEM based in Israel; and Peter Tranitz, senior director of technology solutions and leader of the IPC Design Initiative. They explain how PCBflow functions, from the designer’s and manufacturer’s viewpoint, and how this database helps break down the wall between these stakeholders.
ICAPE Webinar: Want to Know How to Order PCBs in 5 Minutes?
03/28/2024 | ICAPE GroupIn today's fast-paced world, efficiency is key. Nowhere is this more evident than in the realm of PCB procurement. But what if we told you that ordering PCBs could be as easy as a few clicks and take just 5 minutes?
Elementary, Mr. Watson: Ensuring Design Integrity
03/28/2024 | John Watson -- Column: Elementary, Mr. WatsonBack in February, many of us watched the "Big Game." It reminded me of the saying, “It's not how you start that is important, but rather how you finish." It is perfectly okay when you are talking about sports, you get off to a bad first half and need to recover in the second half. However, when it comes to PCB design, this is not a good practice. If things start badly, they usually don't recover. They continue down that same path, costing more money and losing design time.
Punching Out: Acquiring a PCB/EMS Shop: Brownfield vs. Greenfield
03/27/2024 | Tom Kastner -- Column: Punching Out!We often get asked about establishing a new company (greenfield) rather than buying an existing PCB or EMS shop (brownfield). There are many criteria to consider. Many buyers want to grow through M&A, but they cannot find acquisition targets that fit their criteria. Perhaps they can find the right shop, or at least one that fits five out of 10 criteria, but they encounter obstacles, such as owners who do not want to sell, price expectations that are too high, or negotiations that are too difficult. Despite the interest in building new facilities, since 2000, few companies have gone the greenfield route. Here is a look at the pros and cons of buying vs. building.
