Sunstone Circuits is Again Recognized as One of the Healthiest Employers of Oregon
August 23, 2016 | Business WireEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
For the fourth consecutive year, Sunstone Circuits has been named one of the Healthiest Employers of Oregon. The awards are given annually to companies that promote the value of workplace wellness and demonstrate innovation and leadership in their wellness programs. Sunstone placed 5thout of 24 companies in the “medium sized employers” category – those with 100-499 employees.
The Portland Business Journal linked up with Indianapolis-based Healthiest Employers LLC to produce the Healthiest Employers of Oregon awards, a program designed to reward companies for innovative wellness programs and to give other businesses ideas for implementing their own worksite wellness initiatives. This year, The Business Journal honored 60 companies for their efforts to improve employee health. The Healthiest Employers/HR Summit took place on August 19, 2016, at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Portland.
“It’s so great being a part of the wellness program at Sunstone,” said Human Resources Manager Sheri Kuretich. “Our program is about creating a culture of wellness that shows true care and concern for Sunstone employees. The program facilitates and supports healthy lifestyles through initiatives that are memorable & educational, all with the hope that it inspires employees to take charge of their health in a fun, safe and sustainable way. Sunstone recognizes that a healthy person is typically happier, misses less work, and has an improved outlook on life, with an overall improved sense of well-being. Seeing measurable results and helping employees to be the best they can be is so rewarding.”
Sunstone Circuits earned this award for the fourth year in a row, by maintaining a formal wellness program to encourage healthy lifestyles. By implementing a health incentive, employees who obtain biometric readings, undergo a health risk assessment and participate in the “Wellness BINGO” challenge have the ability to receive a reduction in their health insurance premiums each month. The judges also acknowledged Sunstone’s onsite walking trail, fitness room, employee health initiatives, and company-organized participation in local running and walking events. Sunstone has had several employees who were, through the assessment and coaching process, educated on pre-stage medical conditions and have since made lifestyle changes to improve those conditions. The Power Shift in U.S. Manufacturing Ownership
08/20/2025 | Nolan Johnson, I-Connect007The U.S. manufacturing landscape is driven by reshoring initiatives, supply chain realignments, and a surge of foreign interest. What does that mean for U.S.-based PCB and EMS companies? In this interview, mergers and acquisitions expert Tom Kastner breaks down the forces reshaping the industry—why foreign investors are eager to enter the U.S. market, why many are evaluating greenfield facilities over acquisitions, and why the high-mix, low-volume focus of most domestic shops doesn’t always align with foreign buyers’ goals.
Facing the Future: Challenges and Opportunities in Reshoring PCB Manufacturing
08/12/2025 | Prashant Patel -- Column: Facing the FutureFor decades, offshore manufacturing dominated the global electronics industry. The pursuit of cost efficiency, scalability, and access to vast labor markets made countries like China, Taiwan, and Vietnam attractive destinations for printed circuit board (PCB) production. But a seismic shift is underway, from geopolitical instability and supply chain disruptions to rising labor costs and national security concerns.

Direct Metallization: A Sustainable Shift in PCB Fabrication
07/31/2025 | Jim Watkowski, Harry Yang, and Mark Edwards, MacDermid Alpha Electronics SolutionsThe global electronics industry is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by the need for more resilient supply chains and environmentally sustainable manufacturing practices. Printed circuit boards (PCBs), the backbone of interconnection for electronic devices, are at the center of this shift. Traditionally, PCB fabrication has relied heavily on electroless copper, a process that, while effective, is resource-intensive and environmentally hazardous. In response, many manufacturers are turning to direct metallization technologies as a cleaner, more efficient alternative.
