AISMALIBAR invites you to spot new model vehicles at the North American International Auto Show using Cobritherm Ultrathin and Flextherm Insulated Metal Substrates in their lighting systems. Some vehicles on display using these products are Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Ford Edge, BMW 6&7 Series, Audi Q3 & Q5 and VW Touran. The North American International Auto Show is held in Detroit, MI from January 8-22, 2017.
Jeff Brandman, President of North America adds, “We are excited to see the newest Aismalibar product offerings on display as part of cutting edge automotive lighting systems from some of the top manufacturers in the world. The North American International Auto Show in Detroit is the pinnacle event for the automotive industry and we are proud to see our products hit the floor at the consumer level.”.
Cobritherm Ultra-Thin material has an innovative Ultra-Thin dielectric layer that provides higher thermal performance and excellent working temperature. With a thickness of only 35 microns, this new product reduces thermal resistance down to 0,10 Kcm/W (0,17 Kinch/W), which offers excellent thermal dissipation conditions for high power LED assembly.
Flextherm is ideal for manufacturing conformable metal printed circuit boards. It can be bent after production while maintaining the initial dielectric strength in between its conductive layers (Al and Cu). The flexible properties of this material enable it to conform to both the positive and negative radii, allowing the product to adapt to the demands of increasingly complex MPCB designs.
Cobritherm has been approved by top OEMs around the world with a focus on the automotive, lighting and power electronics industries. It has collected excellent results in endurance testing and has the UL Recognition as one of the best insulated metal substrates after 60,000 hours.
About Aismalibar
AISMALIBAR was one of the first IMS laminate manufacturers in the world and was the first in Europe. AISMALIBAR is proud to introduce their material to the North American market in 2012. Their product IMS Cobritherm ® is a qualified and recognized Insulated Metal Substrate which gives the best thermal management solutions with high thermal conductivity, low thermal impedance and high dielectric capacity. AISMALIBAR has implement a 100% proof test with 1-3KV (High Pot Test) to all IMS laminates coming out of their plant. This is the only way to insure the dialectical strength is perfect and that production problems are detected before PCBs arrive to the end user.

Trouble in Your Tank: Materials for PWB Fabrication—Drillability and Metallization
07/16/2024 | Michael Carano -- Column: Trouble in Your TankLaminate materials are the building blocks on which printed circuit boards are manufactured. Circuit board designers rely on the critical electrical properties of the materials to design the interconnects, and with the drive toward IoT (internet of things), autonomous driving, and virtual and augmented reality, material properties take on a very high level of importance.
Don’t Overconstrain Your Board Materials
07/02/2024 | I-Connect007 Editorial TeamWhen we started planning May’s issue, which centers on the use of traditional laminates in certain high-frequency PCBs, we knew we had to interview Kris Moyer and Ed Kelley together. Kris teaches advanced PCB design classes for IPC, and Ed is the former CTO of Isola and founder of Four Peaks Innovation. What ensued was a wide-ranging discussion on the evolution of “standard” PCB laminates and the recent trend by some OEMs to use these materials in high-frequency and even RF boards.
Underconstraining Your Materials? Leave It to the Experts
05/30/2024 | I-Connect007 Editorial TeamWith traditional laminates now sporting improved resin systems, some OEMs are choosing various flavors of FR-4 instead of high-speed laminates for their high-speed designs—even RF applications. Avoiding overconstraining your materials in high-speed products can lead to considerable cost savings, not to mention a more streamlined trip through fabrication.
The Shaughnessy Report: Unlock Your High-speed Material Constraints
05/15/2024 | Andy Shaughnessy -- Column: The Shaughnessy ReportThe world of PCB materials used to be a fairly simple one. It was divided into two groups: the “traditional” laminates, often called FR-4, and the high-speed laminates developed especially for high-speed PCBs. These were two worlds that usually didn’t collide. But then traditional laminates started getting better, and high-speed designers and design engineers took notice and started to reconsider what FR-4 could be used for.
Breaking High-speed Material Constraints: Design007 Magazine — May 2024
05/14/2024 | I-Connect007 Editorial TeamDo you need specialty materials for your high-speed designs? Maybe not. Improvements in resins mean designers of high-speed boards can sometimes use traditional laminate systems instead of high-speed materials, saving time and money while streamlining the fab process. In the May 2024 issue of Design007 Magazine, our contributors explain how to avoid overconstraining your materials when working with high-speed boards.
