IPC / iNEMI Webinar on Circularity Challenges in Electronics Manufacturing
July 11, 2024 | iNEMIEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Join iNEMI and IPC to talk about a collaborative approach to the challenges of circularity in electronics manufacturing. We held a workshop with industry experts at the Electronics Goes Green conference in Berlin last month to discuss circularity challenges in electronics manufacturing. The workshop — "There’s no end to a circle: A workshop on how to address circularity challenges in electronics manufacturing" — focused on scoping industry solutions to address pressing circularity challenges.
This upcoming webinar will review workshop results and focus on identifying priorities in four areas identified by the workshop:
- Data issues — availability or lack of data, trustworthiness, accuracy, security, standardization/collection of data
- Definition of circularity — standardizing form, fit and function; design for circularity; need clear, consistent, defined roadmap, priorities, and policies worldwide
- ROI — lack of economic incentives
- Other — rate of technology change; lack of maturity and good practice; lack of all levels of expertise; complexity of system; disconnect between net zero goals and circular materials
Registration
This webinar is for people who attended the EGG workshop as well as those who could not attend but would like to join the conversation. We will be continuing, and building on, the discussion about solutions needed to enable circular economy principles in the electronics industry. The webinar is open to industry; advance registration is required (see link below). If you have any questions or need additional information please contact Mark Schaffer (marks@inemi.org).

An Ultimate Goal in Sustainability: Recyclable PCBs
04/11/2024 | Marcy LaRont, PCB007 MagazineWho doesn’t believe in recycling? “Re-use, repurpose, recycle” has been a drumbeat for more than two decades. Our children learn about it in primary school. Full university departments devoted to environmental science and sustainability in universities forward their discipline for the world's benefit. In theory, we all get behind the concept of recycling, even if the nuances of execution may fall short.
