I-Connect007 Editor’s Choice: Five Must-Read ‘Ugly Sweaters’ of the Week

12/27/2024 | Marcy LaRont, I-Connect007
In commemoration of the holiday week, we look at what has become a popular tradition in both the U.S. and England: the ugly Christmas sweater. This fabulous tradition has grown in recent years to encompass not only ugly sweaters but sweatshirts, cardigans (a type of sweater), pajamas, and even headgear. For the sake of simplicity (and far too many options from which to choose), we will stick with sweaters. As we round the bend on Christmas 2024, wade halfway into Hannukah, and look toward the New Year, let’s relish “the ugly.”

It’s Only Common Sense: What To Do When They Won’t Answer the Phone

12/30/2024 | Dan Beaulieu -- Column: It's Only Common Sense
This week, I put together some ideas based on some recent Rep 1:1 calls where there was a lot of talk about reps not being able to reach their customers, especially their target customers, no matter how hard they tried. This can be frustrating, but we are salespeople, so if we are determined and creative, we will find a way. As my mother used to say to my father when they were having money problems, “There is always a way.” They always found a way, and their problems were often more serious than a salesperson trying to get through to a potential customer.

This book is a revelation for business leaders seeking effective strategies when flashy, expensive innovations often dominate the market. The authors share how companies can thrive by delivering targeted, cost-effective innovation by offering customers precisely what they need.

It’s Only Common Sense: You’ve Got to Hustle

12/16/2024 | Dan Beaulieu -- Column: It's Only Common Sense
We can’t control many things: the economy, what our competitors are doing, and even sometimes what our customers think. But one thing that’s fully within our control is how hard we work. As a professional salesperson, if you’re not willing to put in the hustle and outwork everyone else in the room, you’ll be left behind. Let’s get something straight immediately: There are no shortcuts in sales. There’s no magic formula that will allow you to succeed without putting in the effort. The idea that working smarter can replace hard work is a myth. It’s not one or the other. It’s both. Working harder and smarter is the only way to win.
