Current IssueVoices of the Industry
We take the pulse of the PCB industry by sharing insights from leading fabricators and suppliers in this month's issue. We've gathered their thoughts on the new U.S. administration, spending, the war in Ukraine, and their most pressing needs. It’s an eye-opening and enlightening look behind the curtain.
The Essential Guide to Surface Finishes
We go back to basics this month with a recount of a little history, and look forward to addressing the many challenges that high density, high frequency, adhesion, SI, and corrosion concerns for harsh environments bring to the fore. We compare and contrast surface finishes by type and application, take a hard look at the many iterations of gold plating, and address palladium as a surface finish.
It's Show Time!
In this month’s issue of PCB007 Magazine we reimagine the possibilities featuring stories all about IPC APEX EXPO 2025—covering what to look forward to, and what you don’t want to miss.

Jaltek Design Shortlisted for The Engineer’s Collaborate to Innovate Awards
February 24, 2025 | JaltekEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Jaltek Design are delighted to have been shortlisted for The Engineer’s Collaborate to Innovate Awards. Now in its ninth year, Collaborate to Innovate (C2I) was launched to uncover and celebrate great examples of engineering collaboration – a dynamic considered critical to solving many of the challenges and problems faced by society.
The Awards span nine categories - including energy & environment, aerospace & defence, automotive, manufacturing, data, and healthcare technology.
Alongside Space Solar, International Electric Company Limited, Queens University Belfast and WaveRF, Jaltek Design has been nominated in the ‘Energy and Environment’ Category for their involvement in the HARRIER project - working towards constant beamed energy from Space.
The aim is to power more than a million homes by the 2030s with a mile-wide complex of mirrors and solar panels orbiting 22,000 miles above the plane. HARRIER was the World’s first prototype, which successfully demonstrated the technology required to achieve this - using 360-degree beam steering capability with no moving parts - potentially paving the way to a constant supply of energy, from space
Commenting on the shortlisting, Chris Day, Jaltek Design’s Technical Director, said: "We’re thrilled to have made it to the finals of The Engineer Collaborate to Innovate Awards. Most notably, the C2I Awards celebrate collaboration, and the team behind Harrier was made up of a consortium of talented companies with a shared vision to revolutionise clean energy, accelerate the transition to Net Zero and provide energy equity. This team was led by David Homfray, Mike Hontoir and Anja Frey of Space Solar, and included Neil Buchanan of Queens University Belfast (QUB), Debbie Fellows of Wave RF, Ian cash of International Electric Company and finally us. Working on Harrier has been so rewarding. We got to work with so many talented people, use pioneering technology and produce a groundbreaking application."
Chris continued: "We’re excited to progress this all the way and whatever the outcome, for our technology to be listed amongst the finalists of this prestigious award is a fantastic milestone for all involved. The UK has the potential to be a leader in Space-Based Solar Power, for the benefit of all life on Earth, which is so exciting."
The competition will be judged by a prestigious panel of leading UK engineers and the ultimate winners will be revealed at a special party in London on the evening of Thursday 27th February 2025.
