April 3, 2025 | I-Connect007 Editorial TeamEstimated reading time: 1 minute

During the Newcomer’s Welcome Reception at IPC APEX EXPO, the I-Connect Editorial Team spoke with several first-time attendees. The following is our interview with Faith DeSaulnier, a process engineer based at TTM Technologies’ facility in Forest Grove, Oregon.
Andy Shaughnessy: It’s nice to meet you, Faith. Tell us about your job at TTM.
Faith DeSaulnier: Sure. I am a process engineer in fabrication; I work in the routing and milling area. I'm also the backup for the drill engineer as well.
Michelle Te: Where did you go to school and what did you study?
DeSaulnier: I went to Oregon State University and studied mechanical engineering. I live in Salem, Oregon.
Shaughnessy: Is this the kind of job you were thinking of getting into?
DeSaulnier: I didn't even really know that circuit boards could be a career. It just wasn't on my mind. But once I got the job, I realized that this is definitely right up my alley. It's a really great job, and I love the company.
Shaughnessy: What do you think about the show so far?
DeSaulnier: It’s been great. There are so many options for committee meetings and technical meetings, and I'm really excited about the next couple of days.
Te: What kinds of things are you looking to do while you're here?
DeSaulnier: I'm looking to broaden my knowledge a little bit about IPC, and I will be looking at some of the exhibitors for like routers and things like that.
Te: Do you think you’ll get more involved in IPC?
DeSaulnier: Yes, I would love to get on a standards development committee. I need to figure out which committees are the best fit for me and possibly join one or two of them.
Te: Are you the type of person who would speak up in a meeting if you had a comment or some thoughts about the topic?
DeSaulnier: If I was very confident in something, then I would definitely speak up. If I was knowledgeable about the situation, I would say something, sure.
Shaughnessy: Thanks for speaking with us, Faith.
DeSaulnier: Thank you. I enjoyed it.
