MS2 Technologies, LLC/P. Kay Focuses on Central America with First Installation in Honduras
August 24, 2025 | P. Kay Metal, Inc.Estimated reading time: 1 minute
This year MS2 Technologies has turned their focused to the growing electronics market in Central America. With that focus came the adaptation of MS2 and the Akila System from a Honduras-based corporation with manufacturing plants in both Honduras and Mexico.
MS2® is P. Kay Metal’s innovative and patented molten solder surfactant that virtually eliminates solder dross in wave soldering—cutting solder use by up to 85%. Akila is a complementary solder-recovery hardware system (including DOFFS) designed to reclaim up to 90% of dross as reusable solder bars, maximizing recycling and cost efficiency while it reduces hazardous waste.
Upon the Akila machine arrival at the plant, a MS2 Technologies technician was deployed to assist with the installation and training, providing best practices for operation to achieve optimal results.
Staff training included both safety instructions and machine operation, followed by instructions on how to use the MS2. Operators are instructed on all steps, including understanding the types of dross, as the MS2 is used for leaded(Red) and lead-free(Green) Alloys.
Once the operators completed training they were certified by MS2 Technologies, LLC for proper use of MS2 and the installation was finalized.
"With MS2®, we’re helping manufacturers like this to virtually eliminate dross at the source, while Akila ensures any remaining material is recovered and reused. Together, these solutions not only reduce costs and waste but also improve solder quality and support more sustainable production,” said Octavio Raygoza, Regional Manager, Mexico.
