2Q25 DRAM Revenue Jumps 17.1%, SK hynix Expands Market Share as Taiwanese Vendors Deliver Strong Growth
September 2, 2025 | TrendForceEstimated reading time: 1 minute
TrendForce’s latest investigations demonstrate that global DRAM industry revenue reached US$31.63 billion in the second quarter of 2025, up 17.1% QoQ. This growth was fueled by rising contract prices for conventional DRAM, robust shipments growth, and expanding HBM volumes. Inventory digestion at DRAM suppliers accelerated with stronger procurement momentum from PC OEMs, smartphone makers, and CSPs, driving contract prices for most products back into positive territory.
SK hynix posted bit shipments above its targets in 2Q25. However, the higher share of lower-priced DDR4 shipments limited ASP growth. Even so, revenue surged 25.8% QoQ to $12.23 billion, boosting market share to 38.7% and securing the top spot once again.
Samsung ranked second, with both ASP and bit shipments edging up. Revenue rose 13.7% QoQ to $10.35 billion, though market share slipped slightly to 32.7%. Micron saw a sharp increase in bit shipments but faced ASP pressure due to its rising DDR4 mix. Revenue grew a modest 5.7% QoQ to $6.95 billion, with market share declining to 22% and placing it in third.
Taiwanese suppliers also delivered strong growth in 2Q25, mainly by filling demand left unmet by the top three players as they shifted production to advanced nodes. Nanya Technology, supported by strong restocking from PC OEMs and consumer clients, saw shipments surge. Despite offsetting ASP declines, revenue still rose 56% QoQ to about $340 million.
Winbond also posted a marked increase in shipments, with stable ASPs helping drive revenue up 24.9% QoQ to $180 million. PSMC, whose revenue counts only self-produced consumer DRAM (excluding contract manufacturing), benefited from aggressive restocking, with revenue soaring 86.4% QoQ to $20 million. Including foundry services, however, PSMC’s revenue slipped 2.9% QoQ, as client demand for outsourced production recovered only gradually.

07/07/2025 | TrendForceTrendForce’s latest findings show that the three major DRAM suppliers are shifting capacity toward high-end products and have begun announcing end-of-life (EOL) plans for PC and server-grade DDR4 and mobile LPDDR4X.
Micron, Trump Administration Announce Expanded U.S. Investments in Leading-Edge DRAM Manufacturing and R&D
06/12/2025 | MicronMicron Technology, Inc. and the Trump Administration have announced Micron’s plans to expand its U.S. investments to approximately $150 billion in domestic memory manufacturing and $50 billion in R&D, creating an estimated 90,000 direct and indirect jobs. Micron's plan is to bring advanced HBM packaging capabilities to the United States. In addition, Micron has finalized a $275 million CHIPS Act direct funding award supporting its investment to expand and modernize its Manassas, Virginia facility, which will begin this year. This investment will onshore Micron’s 1-alpha DRAM node, reinforcing the company’s ongoing commitment to key sectors including industrial, automotive, defense and aerospace, and medical devices.
DRAM Revenue Drops 5.5% in the First Quarter of 2025; SK hynix Overtakes Samsung for Top Spot
06/03/2025 | TrendForceTrendForce’s latest findings reveal that global revenue for the DRAM industry reached US$27.01 billion in 1Q25, marking a 5.5% QoQ decline. This downturn was driven by falling contract prices for conventional DRAM and a contraction in HBM shipment volumes.
Downstream Inventory Reduction Eases DRAM Price Decline in 2Q25
