UniPixel, Inc. today announced it was awarded a 13.3-inch notebook program from an existing customer for the consumer market. The program is the 17thdesign win for UniPixel since the beginning of calendar 2016. The announcement of this new product win, plus the programs originally acquired from Atmel, and the one product announced late in 2015, brings to 21 the total number of programs awarded to UniPixel.
The 13.3-inch notebook program will leverage XTouch metal mesh touch sensor technology to support superior touch and active stylus performance. The device will also feature Diamond Guard hardcoat technology to reduce weight and cost of the touch panel. Initial production validation units will be delivered to the customer during the upcoming third quarter of 2016 with full-scale production expected to commence during the third quarter of 2017. The Company expects that the product volumes associated with this consumer program will be similar to the existing commercial program volumes that the Company has been awarded to this point.
Jeff Hawthorne, president and chief executive officer of UniPixel, said, "Our existing customers continue to validate our ability to deliver highly differentiated touch screen sensors that fulfill the demands of their end-user customers with devices that are faster, thinner and lighter. We are optimistic that our touch screen sensor and hardcoat products will continue to gain traction in the market and become featured components in a broad cross-section of consumer oriented computing devices in the coming years."
Mr. Hawthorne concluded, "We are pleased with this 17th design win since the beginning of the year. It is gratifying that as an organization we have made significant sales, marketing and manufacturing progress in such a short period of time. I applaud the entire UniPixel team for their focus and dedication to get us to this point."
