Beyond the Rulebook
What happens when the rule book is no longer useful, or worse, was never written in the first place? In today’s fast-moving electronics landscape, we’re increasingly asked to design and build what has no precedent, no proven path, and no tidy checklist to follow. This is where “Design for Invention” begins.
March Madness
From the growing role of AI in design tools to the challenge of managing cumulative tolerances, these articles in this issue examine the technical details, design choices, and manufacturing considerations that determine whether a board works as intended.

Holiday Message from President of the THPCA
December 23, 2019 | THPCAEstimated reading time: 1 minute
First and foremost, on behalf of the Thailand Printed Circuit Association (THPCA), we would like to convey our warmest greetings to all of you. The year 2019 has been marked by noteworthy occasions for the Thailand PCB industry and we have accomplished a significant milestone when we received official certification from the Thai government to acknowledge the THPCA establishment on October 28, 2019.
THPCA was established by Thailand PCB manufacturers who share the common goals and objectives to develop the PCB industry and make the strategic positions in the global supply chain of electronic devices. Besides, we would like to provide a reliable source and portfolio of PCB market information, technology mapping, implement PCB production standards, in parallel with the cooperation with the global markets and human resource development.
As Thailand is playing an important role in the PCB manufacturing activities in the Southeast Asia region, it is our THPCA mission to strengthen long-term partnership with Thailand and Asian countries as well as develop the global network with WECC through collaborative events and maintaining our momentum and reinforcing the commitment.
THPCA will continue to collaborate closely with WECC members as a close business alliance and move forward to the next episodes of transforming the future of PCB industry together. We look forward to sharing ideas and initiatives among our team in the year 2020.
Last but not least, in the midst of all the festive seasons, we would like to extend our sincere thankfulness to all WECC members for their collaboration that you have granted to THPCA. We wish you and your family Happy Holidays and a prosperous new year 2020.
Yours sincerely,
Pitharn Ongkosit, President, Thailand Printed Circuit Association

Women in Technology: Learning to Just Be Myself
04/21/2026 | Michelle Te, I-Connect007Approximately 100 women and a handful of men gathered for a Women in Electronics evening event at APEX EXPO. As I wandered among the tables before it started, I stopped to chat with several women all wearing purple and white polo shirts emblazoned with the TTM logo. It turns out they are part of TTM’s Women in Technology Group, so I sat down and invited them to share their thoughts on coming to the event and what it means to be part of the electronics industry.

Breaking the Manual Quoting Bottleneck in Wire Harness
04/15/2026 | Nolan Johnson, SMT007 MagazineArik Vrobel has spent more than 35 years in wire harness manufacturing—starting in EL-Com, his father's shop, building it into a nationally recognized contract manufacturer, and ultimately selling to Aptiv/Winchester in 2021. But retirement didn't last long. Within months, Arik was back, not as a manufacturer this time, but as a technologist. His new company, Cableteque, is building the quoting and data automation platform he always wished existed.
