CES 2020: The Intelligence of Things
January 6, 2020 | Nolan Johnson, I-Connect007Estimated reading time: 1 minute

Show week for CES 2020 starts well ahead of the actual exhibition dates because it is huge. The organizers of CES state that there are more than 4,400 exhibiting companies and nearly three million net square feet of exhibit space. On the floor, you can find 307 of the 2018 Fortune Global 500 companies. With more than 175,000 industry professionals (61,000 international travelers), the event infrastructure gets exercised fully by CES.
Why is this show important to our industry? Because this event showcases OEMs. This is the current state of the industry for the products that our industry helps to turn into finished products. That’s why I-Connect007 is here, walking the miles on the exhibition floor.
While I-Connect007 may lead the electronics manufacturing trade press by covering CES every year, we’re far from alone. In 2019, CES generated 226,273 media mentions and 900,000 social media mentions. For example, the media lounge at the Las Vegas Convention Center uses four individual ballrooms to hold it all. I’ve flown commercial flights out of airports smaller than the media lounge.
Understandably, the amount of news and information to process and print is simply staggering; we can’t even bring you all of the news directly related to electronics manufacturing.
Over the week, I-Connect007 Technical Editor Dan Feinberg and I will bring you some of the most interesting news, products, and announcements from 5G to IoT, semiconductor developments, autonomous vehicle technology, interconnect, fabrication materials, and much more.
Watch the I-Connect007 Daily Newsletter all week for our daily dispatches from the CES show floor and surrounding events.
