BAE Systems, Inc. announced that it received a score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2022 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s premier benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality. This is the third consecutive year and fifth time overall that the company has earned the top score and been designated as one of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality. BAE Systems, Inc. joins the ranks of more than 840 major U.S. businesses that also earned top marks this year.
“Creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive space for LGBTQ+ employees to feel respected and valued is critical to our company’s culture and success,” said Tom Arseneault, president and CEO of BAE Systems, Inc. “We celebrate this achievement and reaffirm our commitment to policies and practices that foster diversity, equity, and inclusion in our workplace.”
The results of the CEI showcase how 1,271 U.S.-based companies are promoting LGBTQ+ friendly workplace policies in the U.S., as well as helping advance the cause of LGBTQ+ inclusion in workplaces abroad through global operations.
The CEI rates companies on detailed criteria falling in four pillars:
- Non-discrimination policies across business entities;
- Equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families;
- Supporting an inclusive culture; and,
- Corporate social responsibility.
BAE Systems, Inc. and its approximately 32,000 U.S. employees are part of a global defense, aerospace, and security company with a skilled workforce of more than 87,000 in over forty countries. BAE Systems’ dedicated workforce creates and delivers a wide range of products and services, including advanced electronic systems, cyber operations, intelligence analysis, combat vehicles, naval weapons, ship maintenance and modernization, and vehicle upgrades.
In 2021, BAE Systems, Inc. released A Decade of Progress, the company’s first report of its kind to detail progress made over the past ten years toward increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the workplace.
