SnapEDA Plugins Turbo-Boost PCB Design Software Tools
October 26, 2016 | SnapEDAEstimated reading time: 1 minute
SnapEDA, the Internet’s leading parts library for circuit board design, has released a new plugin that allows hardware designers to find parts directly inside their design software, making it easier than ever to integrate new components into designs.
The new Altium Plugin joins the existing Eagle Plugin, which has been downloaded thousands of time since its launch in March. The free plugins connect to SnapEDA’s cloud-based library allowing hardware designers to search, find and download digital models for millions of electronic parts instantly. If a part isn't yet available in their library, it can be requested via InstaPart, their 24-hour model creation service launched last month.
Designers have traditionally spent days creating digital models for their designs. This process is tedious, time-consuming, and error-prone. The new plugins significantly boost productivity by allowing hardware designers to download SnapEDA's free models instantly so they can focus on the quality of their designs.
“These plugins are the next step towards our vision of making hardware design more frictionless. By breaking down the barriers in creating new products, we’re helping to unleash innovation and get new products to market faster,” said Natasha Baker, founder of SnapEDA.
As a neutral, third party content provider in the industry, SnapEDA is uniquely positioned to provide solutions that are complementary to EDA vendors. In addition to Altium & Eagle, SnapEDA’s digital models are compatible with other design software, including, KiCad, Cadence OrCad & Allegro (Beta), and Mentor Graphics PADS (Beta).
All new models created by the company conform to IPC-7351B standards and follow a three-step patent-pending verification process.

Beyond Design: Refining Design Constraints
07/17/2025 | Barry Olney -- Column: Beyond DesignBefore starting any project, it is crucial to develop a thorough plan that encompasses all essential requirements. This ensures that the final product not only aligns with the design concept but is also manufacturable, reliable, and meets performance expectations. High-speed PCB design requires us to not only push technological boundaries but also consider various factors related to higher frequencies, faster transition times, and increased bandwidths during the design process.
