Raytheon Missile Systems Receives Top Security Score
December 12, 2017 | Raytheon CompanyEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Raytheon Company's Missile Systems business received its sixth consecutive superior security rating from the Defense Security Service. Missile Systems achieved a score of 851, just 14 points shy of perfect. DSS awarded the score and rating after a week-long audit of the Tucson, Arizona, plant site.
A superior rating is reserved for contractors that have consistently and fully implemented requirements of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual. The facility must have documented procedures that heighten the security awareness of employees, a sustained high level of management
"Raytheon's commitment to national security is unwavering," said Dr. Taylor W. Lawrence, Raytheon Missile Systems president. "Everyone here understands the imperative to protect customer information. This superior rating validates all of our hard work and dedication."
Supporting national security and the military, DSS is responsible for approximately 13,000 cleared contractor facilities. The agency ensures the security of the nation's technological base and oversees the protection of U.S. and foreign classified information in industry. Fewer than four percent of the facilities DSS oversees receive a superior rating.
"Raytheon Missile Systems continues to strive for security excellence and has been extremely proactive in integrating the risk-focused approach into every facet of their industrial security program," said Leslie Whitaker, Industrial Security representative at DSS.
