Newbury Innovation Sponsors Team Bath Racing Electric
October 29, 2018 | Newbury InnovationEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Newbury Innovation has taken its support of the electronics students at Bath University to a new level by agreeing to become a Gold level sponsor for this year's Team Bath Racing Electric (TBRe) team. The agreement gives the student engineering team access to all the PCBs that they may require as well as an open door to Newbury's design facilities.
"Being involved with TBRe brings undoubted benefits for both us and the student team. We get to work with some of the best young electrical engineers and learn with them, whilst they gain a far better understanding of what is really required in a commercial design and production environment. Supporting their personal development whilst watching them encounter and overcome real engineering challenges, through the course of the programme, is very rewarding." Jon is also delivering a series of guest lectures to the team, the first of which will be looking at electrical and mechanical interfaces and takes place in early November," said Jon Hawkins, technical director, Newbury Innovation.
"We are delighted that we have been able to secure the support of Jon and his team at Newbury Innovation. Having a relationship with industry not only helps us with the challenges we face developing and building the electric racing car, but it is also incredibly valuable to us in preparing us for our future careers;" said Afkar Ansar, business manager, Team Bath Racing Electric.
"If industry wants the best possible engineers then it must play its part in helping them develop. What better way is there of showing that support than to be part of this exciting development programme. Last year's car was great and we look forward to supporting the endeavours of the 2018/19 team," Jon continues.
Other benefits to Newbury Innovation are its branding on the car, the pit boards and team shirts, as well as laboratory and online promotional opportunities.
Team Bath Racing Electric (TBRe) is a young, exciting and innovative student motorsport team based at the University of Bath. Each year, TBRe designs, builds and tests a single-seat, open-wheel race car to compete on an international stage at Silverstone at the renowned Formula Student competition. Unlike many competitors, TBRe utilises a fully electric powertrain. For us, this is crucial to not only allow a level of mechanical and electrical innovation unachievable by traditional cars but also to stay relevant in an industry that is shifting irreversibly toward electric vehicles.
Newbury Innovation is one of the few electronic design companies capable of offering a complete solution for every stage of development project. The company provides expertise through the entire electronic design process; from concept through to production and delivery of the final finished product.
