Benchmark Romania Opens Lab at Transilvania University of Braşov

The investment resides in high performance equipment, educational modules and furniture. In the laboratory are reproduced work points similar to those in production. The American company Benchmark Electronics is among the top 10 integrated services providers for the clients of the electronics industry offering global engineering services, integrated technology solutions and manufacturing services (both EMS and precision machining services) to the original equipment manufacturers in the following industries: industrial control, aerospace and defense, telecommunication, medical and testing devices and instruments.
Starting with the academic year 2018-2019, the students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science will benefit from a new laboratory equipped at modern technological standards for the development of practical applications classes in the electronics subjects. The work points are each provided with a complete set of specific devices: power supply, digital multimeter, function generator, oscilloscope, synthesizer, RLC bridge, frequency meter, soldering station and computer. Besides the technical equipment, the laboratory has modern facilities that are specific to the teaching process (screens, video projectors), and a modern arrangement that reproduces the working benches in the testing and debugging area of the production.
“The laboratory inaugurated on October 16, 2018 is a fruit of the partnership between Transilvania University of Brasov and Benchmark Electronics Romania, a partnership in which all the activities carried out focus on the student, on the quality training of the future specialist. In the dynamic field of electronic technologies, industry and the academic environment realized that joint involvement and effort are the premises for the future specialist to be well prepared in order to meet the professional challenges,” said Associate Professor Carmen Gerigan, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science within Transilvania University of Brasov.
“We are a company that wants to get involved in the life of the community we operate in, which understands what are the current needs in different areas and that wants to help. The laboratory is equipped with laboratory-specific equipment in the field of electronics, compatible with the equipment used within Benchmark Electronics. The main purpose is to help students and provide them access to modern equipment that shall prepare them to develop a career in the electronics industry,” said Florin Onu, General Manager of Benchmark Electronics Romania.
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science has more than 1,500 students of whom over 400 are in the 1st year of the Bachelor studies. It is the only faculty of electrical engineering field of the 18 faculties of Transilvania University of Braşov where specialists are trained in the following fields: electrical engineering, electronics, telecommunications, automation, information technology, computers and robotics.
