Unitemp to Showcase ESPEC Environmental Chambers
February 27, 2019 | UnitempEstimated reading time: 2 minutes

Unitemp will be showcasing ESPEC’s world renowned Battery Test Chambers at the Battery Tech Expo, on March 28, 2018 at International Centre, Telford.
Visitors to stand G15/16 will discover the Espec range of battery test chambers for environmental tests and safety tests of devices such as secondary batteries, NIMH, lead acid & lithium ion batteries to ensure the high safety and stable performance required.
Over the last 10 years, there has been an incredible surge in the demand for advanced battery technologies. The electric vehicles (EV) market is leading the charge and has been the most significant driver of the demand for battery test equipment. Distributed exclusively in the UK by Unitemp, Espec battery test chambers are built to EUCAR level 6 requirements as an integral part of the product specification, which means they will tolerate fire, gas venting and what is termed ‘energetic release of materials’. They also boast a market leading energy efficiency and an unmatched amount of available test space for the given footprint.
On display on the booth at Battery Tech Expo will be the Espec Platinous series which delivers a variety of sizes, ranges, and options to accommodate small battery cells & modules to large battery packs & battery cells.
The Espec AR chambers have an increased tolerance to support heat loads from specimens and provide superior levels of temperature change performance and wide temperature & humidity control range. The line-up consists of twenty chambers that can be selected in accordance with temperature & humidity range, internal capacity and temperature change rate. Temperature change rate is between 4K/minute and 18K/minute, which conforms to IEC standards and test standards for automotive parts.
Ron Brown, Director of Unitemp, commented “The Battery Tech Expo is the UK’s largest free to attend trade exhibition dedicated to the advancement of battery technology, and a great opportunity to showcase our solutions to a dynamic audience at an exciting event. We are thrilled to be showcasing Espec’s solutions for environmental battery testing in March.”
Battery testing is at the forefront of Unitemp’s current success. They are playing a critical role in supporting research at the University of Warwick which aims to establish new battery chemistries and manufacturing techniques and Lancaster University has also recently invested in chambers built to level 6 EUCAR level 6 safety standards. The mission of researchers at the university’s state-of-the-art facilities is to fabricate a new generation of batteries which will outperform the existing ones to deliver higher energy density, cheaper, safer and longer-lasting.
The Unitemp team will be on hand at the Expo in March to demonstrate the test chambers and discuss any queries visitors may have.
