Gatema as has completed the largest acquisition in its history and one of the most important domestic transactions in the field of printed circuit boards. Acquires the German company Kubatronik—Leiterplatten GmbH, which develops and manufactures prototype and test boards.
Kubatronik has been a specialist for high-tech printed circuit boards for many years. Founded in 1980, today, 75% of its production goes to the aerospace, military, medical and telecommunications sectors. Its clients include Siemens, Rohde & Schwarz, Fraunhofer, Fujitsu and Leica. New in a company with 42 employees and annual turnover of about CZK 100 million, Gatema acquires a ninety percent share.
“We were looking for a partner who, like us, is focused on speed of delivery and the ability to execute express orders in a high-quality way. But it will also be able to complement our portfolio with cutting-edge technology and prototype production. That's why we chose Kubatronik, which has a reputation as a quality supplier on the German market. In this way, we can further strengthen our position in Germany and throughout Western Europe. On the other hand, we will be able to offer Czech and Slovak customers a broader range of our services and access special technologies,” says Stanislav Sýkora, CEO and CEO of Gatema.
Target? Being one of the largest in Europe
Gatema does not hide the fact that in the near future she would like to be one of the most important European players in the field of prototyping printed circuit boards. It already delivers solutions to more than 800 companies in 15 European countries, including the largest distributors in the industry. “Since the company was founded in 1992, we have made several million investments, but have always been more focused on the company itself—whether it was building our own headquarters in Boskovice or upgrading production lines. Last year, when we innovated production lines, which today are among the top in Europe. This acquisition is a novelty for us and suggests that we will follow this path to achieve our common goal. And it is to play the highest European league in the field of PCB,” adds Zdeněk Cápal, Director of the PCB Division.
The PCB division is Gatema's largest division, which also deals with enterprise information systems, project consulting, or develops its own Apollon medical audiovisual system. Today, it employs more than 170 employees in Boskovice, Brno and Třebíč and has an annual turnover of over CZK 250 million.
