Advanced Electronics Hosts High School Students to Prepare Them for Future Careers
July 15, 2021 | AECEstimated reading time: 2 minutes

As part of its corporate social responsibility programs, the Advanced Electronics Company (AEC), a Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) company, hosted a group of high school students of the ‘job shadowing’ program organized by the Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz (Misk Foundation), during the month of July. AEC is a participant in the program, which aims to equip high school students with professional skills and competencies to help them prepare early for the local labor market.
The students’ visit to AEC included a field tour during which they learned about the company’s operations and production paths across system design, development, manufacture, and maintenance and repair. The students familiarized themselves with advanced products in various sectors including defense and aerospace, communications and IT, energy, and security. They also met with a number of administrative and engineering teams concerned with research and development and attended sessions involving role descriptions of design, implementation, and quality engineers as well as other production and distribution line technicians.
Engineer Ziad Al-Musallam, CEO of Advanced Electronics Company, expressed AEC’s pride in cooperating with the Misk Foundation to develop capacities of the youth, enhance their talents, and raise their awareness of the various educational and professional options available to them.
Al-Musallam explained, “AEC has more than three decades of experience and knowledge, which has helped us emerge as a leading organization in Saudi Arabia in the field of modern electronics with remarkable manufacturing capabilities and outstanding repair and maintenance services. Today, AEC is a key asset and an effective partner of the State - may Allah protect it - in terms of the localization of military industries and increasing local content. It is also a major supporter of the Kingdom’s digital transformation process.”
For his part, engineer Abdullah Al-Gadi, executive vice president of Shared Services and Corporate Affairs at AEC, welcomed the visiting students and stated, “AEC’s participation in the job shadowing program comes as part of the joint efforts between the company and Misk Foundation to guide the Saudi youth towards their ambitions and educate them about their future careers options. The initiative also aims to bridge the gap between the educational outputs and the requirements of the labor market and present a clear vision to the students about their future.”
Al-Gadi added, “During the students’ visit to Advanced Electronic Company’s facilities, we were keen to enrich their knowledge and increase their experiences regarding the growth of the local economy besides acquainting them with the professional and personal values needed to join AEC’s workforce. We also explained to them the challenges to expect in case they decided to work in the electronics, digital technology, or engineering industries in the future and encouraged them to explore the skills and competencies required to work for the major industrial corporations of the Kingdom in general.”
Established in 1988 and headquartered in Riyadh, AEC has built a firm standing in Saudi Arabia's military industries sector during the more than three decades of its operations. The company designs, develops, manufactures, maintains, and repairs advanced systems and products in the defense and aerospace, information and communications technology, security, and energy sectors. It employs more than 2,200 employees, 85 percent of whom are Saudis, including over 500 highly skilled and qualified male and female engineers working in various fields.
