Current IssueIn Pursuit of Perfection: Defect Reduction
For bare PCB board fabrication, defect reduction is a critical aspect of a company's bottom line profitability. In this issue, we examine how imaging, etching, and plating processes can provide information and insight into reducing defects and increasing yields.
Voices of the Industry
We take the pulse of the PCB industry by sharing insights from leading fabricators and suppliers in this month's issue. We've gathered their thoughts on the new U.S. administration, spending, the war in Ukraine, and their most pressing needs. It’s an eye-opening and enlightening look behind the curtain.
The Essential Guide to Surface Finishes
We go back to basics this month with a recount of a little history, and look forward to addressing the many challenges that high density, high frequency, adhesion, SI, and corrosion concerns for harsh environments bring to the fore. We compare and contrast surface finishes by type and application, take a hard look at the many iterations of gold plating, and address palladium as a surface finish.

MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions, a global supplier of integrated solutions from our Circuitry, Assembly and Semiconductor divisions that provides unmatched capabilities in electronics design and manufacturing, has announced the appointments of Saskia Hogan and Beth Massey as new Global Product Managers for the Electrolube brand. Saskia will be responsible for the product management of the conformal coatings portfolio and Beth the Encapsulation Resin portfolio. The positions have been created at a time of considerable expansion within MacDermid Alpha’s Electrolube, who manufacture specialist chemicals for the electronics, automotive and industrial manufacturing industries, and have recently developed a new eco range of bio-based conformal coatings and resins.
In their new roles as Global Product Managers, Saskia and Beth will drive the development and growth of the Coating and Resin product lines to increase global market share and collaborate with global R&D and Sales teams to strategically support the changing needs of customers and their applications with innovative advances in new product development. They will manage and provide technical guidance for the current and emerging coating and resin technologies, as well as leverage the company’s strength in adjacent markets.
Beth joined Electrolube six years ago, holding a Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Durham and initially worked as part of the Technical Support Team before moving to Export Sales, where her responsibilities included looking after Electrolube sales for parts of Asia, the Middle East, Africa and South America.
Saskia also joined Electrolube six years ago as Technical Sales Engineer covering Germany, Switzerland, Benelux and Scandinavia. With a Degree in Business Management, Saskia formerly worked for Automotive, Chemical Handling and Health and Safety companies in both Germany and the UK before joining Electrolube.
Commenting on their new appointments, Beth said, “I'm really looking forward to the new opportunity and helping shape the future of encapsulation resins at Electrolube.” Saskia also commented, “This is an exciting new role and I look forward to working with my colleagues at Electrolube and the wider MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions organisation to support our customers with new and innovative conformal coatings from Electrolube.”
Robert Crosby-Clarke Director, Director of Strategic Marketing & Product Management, comments: “Beth and Saskia are true assets to the company and have a proven track record in resins and coatings, particularly within the automotive manufacturing community, where Electrolube has been highly successful in protecting complex electronic systems from the harshest environments, increasing reliability and lifetime. As we continue to invest in providing the very latest advances in specialist, protective chemicals, Beth and Saskia’s wealth of knowledge and experience will undoubtedly build on the successes we have generated for our customers’ application and product needs and develop further growth worldwide for Electrolube."
