SEMI 3D & Systems Summit 2023 Opens With Heterogeneous Integration for Smarter Systems in Focus
June 26, 2023 | SEMIEstimated reading time: 2 minutes

3D integration and systems for semiconductor manufacturing applications will take center stage at SEMI 3D & Systems Summit as the event opens with leading experts sharing the latest developments and insights into the 3D roadmap, heterogeneous integration and system-in-package (SiP) technologies for smarter systems. Registration is open for the 26-28 June summit in Dresden, Germany.
“We’re excited to welcome industry leaders to Dresden to share perspectives on near-term packaging solutions and explore how deeper collaboration can drive innovation for emerging heterogeneous integration applications and European semiconductor industry growth,” said Laith Altimime, President of SEMI Europe.
Advanced packaging technologies have become critical enablers of continuing semiconductor innovation and extending Moore’s Law. Heterogeneous integration architectures such as chiplets combine separately manufactured electronics components into a higher level assembly to enhance semiconductor functionality and operating characteristics.
Themed Smarter Systems through Heterogeneous Integration, this year’s summit will feature a broader scope of topics including:
- Advanced Packaging: Enabling Moore’s Law, The Next Frontier
- Market Briefing and Technical Roadmap
- Industrialization and Mass Adoption of 3D Technologies
- Hybrid Bonding Developments
- Chiplet Design Packaging: Architectures and Challenges
- Novel Processes and Interconnect Solutions for 3D

10/15/2025 | Virginia Hogan, DymaxDesigning electronics for space environments, particularly those in low Earth orbit (LEO), requires careful consideration of materials that can withstand extreme conditions while supporting long-term reliability. Engineers designing satellite systems, aerospace instrumentation, and high-altitude platforms face a familiar set of challenges: contamination control, mechanical stress, thermal cycling, and manufacturability.
Elementary, Mr. Watson: High Power: When Physics Becomes Real
10/15/2025 | John Watson -- Column: Elementary, Mr. WatsonHave you ever noticed how high-speed design and signal integrity classes are always packed to standing room only, but just down the hall, the session on power electronics has plenty of empty chairs? It's not just a coincidence; it's a trend I've observed over the years as both an attendee and instructor.
Beyond Thermal Conductivity: Exploring Polymer-based TIM Strategies for High-power-density Electronics
10/13/2025 | Padmanabha Shakthivelu and Nico Bruijnis, MacDermid Alpha Electronics SolutionsAs power density and thermal loads continue to increase, effective thermal management becomes increasingly important. Rapid and efficient heat transfer from power semiconductor chip packages is essential for achieving optimal performance and ensuring long-term reliability of temperature-sensitive components. This is particularly crucial in power systems that support advanced applications such as green energy generation, electric vehicles, aerospace, and defense, along with high-speed computing for data centers and artificial intelligence (AI).
