The real cost to manufacture a PCB encompasses everything that goes into making the product: the materials and other value-added supplies, machine and personnel costs, and most importantly, your quality. A hard look at real costs seems wholly appropriate.
Alternate Metallization Processes
Traditional electroless copper and electroless copper immersion gold have been primary PCB plating methods for decades. But alternative plating metals and processes have been introduced over the past few years as miniaturization and advanced packaging continue to develop.

Mycronic’s Science Based Targets Approved
June 27, 2024 | Mycronic ABEstimated reading time: 1 minute
The Science Based Target initiative has approved the two near-term science-based emissions reduction targets of Mycronic AB (publ). The approval marks a milestone in the company’s work to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable electronics industry.
Mycronic commits to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 56% by 2030 from a 2022 base year. The company also commits to reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions from the use of sold products 52% per SEK gross profit within the same timeframe.
Through purposeful innovation, Mycronic is developing products and solutions that support customers in their efforts to limit climate impact. By improving the energy efficiency of the company’s products, Mycronic is addressing the area where the greatest impact can be made.
“The approval of our two near-term science-based emissions reduction targets is a milestone for Mycronic. These will from now on replace our previously communicated climate goal. We recognize that action is urgent, and I am pleased that we now have a solid base for our work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the requirements of the Paris Agreement" says Anders Lindqvist, President and CEO Mycronic.
The Science Based Targets initiative
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis.
The initiative develops standards, tools and guidance which allow companies to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions targets in line with what is needed to keep global heating below catastrophic levels and reach net-zero by 2050 at the latest.
The SBTi partners are CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the We Mean Business Coalition, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
