Current IssueIn Pursuit of Perfection: Defect Reduction
For bare PCB board fabrication, defect reduction is a critical aspect of a company's bottom line profitability. In this issue, we examine how imaging, etching, and plating processes can provide information and insight into reducing defects and increasing yields.
Voices of the Industry
We take the pulse of the PCB industry by sharing insights from leading fabricators and suppliers in this month's issue. We've gathered their thoughts on the new U.S. administration, spending, the war in Ukraine, and their most pressing needs. It’s an eye-opening and enlightening look behind the curtain.
The Essential Guide to Surface Finishes
We go back to basics this month with a recount of a little history, and look forward to addressing the many challenges that high density, high frequency, adhesion, SI, and corrosion concerns for harsh environments bring to the fore. We compare and contrast surface finishes by type and application, take a hard look at the many iterations of gold plating, and address palladium as a surface finish.

L3Harris to Support Canada’s National Security with Imaging Technology
May 27, 2025 | L3Harris TechnologiesEstimated reading time: Less than a minute
L3Harris Technologies has received a contract from the Canadian Commercial Corporation to provide 16 WESCAM MX™-20 surveillance and targeting systems to support the country’s P-8A aircraft. Operated by the Royal Canadian Air Force, the P-8A will conduct critical maritime and overland patrol and reconnaissance missions using WESCAM MX-Series systems.
“Integrating our proven technology with the P-8A equips Canada with the most advanced ISR imaging solution,” said Tom Kirkland, Vice President and General Manager, Targeting and Sensor Systems, L3Harris. “Maritime and national security, including missions in the Arctic, require extremely reliable systems like the WESCAM MX-20 to enhance critical security coast-to-coast.”
The contract also marks the 8,000th WESCAM MX-Series EO/IR system delivered to customers globally. L3Harris’ WESCAM MX-Series EO/IR surveillance and targeting systems are active in over 87 countries, supporting missions across air, land and sea on more than 260 different platforms. The new contract with Canada builds on the 11 WESCAM MX-20 systems L3Harris announced last year for a new fleet of remotely piloted aircraft.
