Yamaha Reveals Software Innovations to Boost Printing, Mounting, and Intelligent Factory

Yamaha Robotics Europe SMT Section has added new features to native equipment software and Intelligent Factory™ tools that accelerate equipment programming, increase production efficiency, and enhance factory productivity.
Newly released software for the company’s YRP10, YRP10e, and YSP10 printers ensures the squeegee stays in continuous contact with the solder paste roll when changing direction after each print. This novel “belly roll” cuts the turnaround time between each print cycle, as well as preserving solder-paste condition and reducing waste.
Also new, parts database auto-setting assists with mounter setup to place equivalent components produced by different manufacturers, which can have differing package dimensions. Where typical programming approaches require corrections to be applied manually, auto-setting ensures the mounter always uses the appropriate X-Y coordinates, cutting changeover time and ensuring optimum end of line yield.
In addition to the printing and mounting enhancements, Shuichi Imai, Sales General Manager for Europe, Yamaha Robotics SMT Section, introduced further new tools joining the YSUP software suite. “We are committed to setting the pace of intelligent factory innovation, helping production teams elevate their productivity. Today we are announcing advanced capabilities including auto-teaching and powerful remote controls.”
Updates to the YSUP-PG programming tools automate component-placement teaching, including optimising X-Y alignment, mounting angle, and polarity, and aligning position-reference coordinates with board fiducials. The new Auto-Teach functions further extend the advanced capabilities of YSUP-PG Visual Data Editor, which include real-time drawing and desktop trial mounting to show quickly and clearly how programs will perform.
For production teams, new features in Yamaha Intelligent Factory tools send important notifications directly to operators’ mobile devices, including parts-remaining alerts and nozzle and feeder warnings. The information lets operators address routine issues immediately, from wherever they are in the factory, boosting workplace efficiency. There are also convenient new tools for transferring tasks (see image), which help floor leaders, operators, and maintenance staff to coordinate their activities efficiently. In addition, more powerful remote controls for printing and placement, enriched with error images, help operators prioritise important alarm notifications and accelerate recovery, working directly from their mobiles.
Transferring tasks between operators’ mobiles enhances factory efficiency.
The new capabilities build on the extensive software tools already available in the YSUP suite, which include programming and scheduling, managing materials, monitoring production performance, traceability, and maintenance.
