Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. officially released its ambitious " 2026-2030 Sustainability Long-Term Goals ," which will focus on clean energy, labor rights, supply chain ESG , and global sustainability initiatives over the next five years , comprehensively covering 21 categories and 34 specific strategic action goals. This upgrade of the group's sustainability development blueprint not only responds to international trends but also transforms sustainable operations into a core driving force for cultivating global competitive resilience , achieving a win-win situation for both commercial and sustainability value. This demonstrates Hon Hai 's leadership and forward-looking vision in the ESG field as the world's largest electronics manufacturing services provider .
From "Vision-Driven" to "Institutional Quantification": Demonstrating the Sophistication of Global Governance
Compared to the first five-year plan, this new version of the goals has been planned for more than a year and has been discussed and focused on with various business units, key subsidiaries and Tier 1 suppliers, ultimately outlining a higher level of governance and a broader scope of influence. For the first time, Foxconn has comprehensively aligned its group policies and supply chain standards with 15 international sustainability frameworks, including TCFD, SASB, and IFRS S1/S2, and has secured its leading position in the sustainability field by maintaining a "top 10% industry position" in five major rating agencies such as MSCI and Sustainalytics .
For the first time, AI technology innovation has also been included in the long-term sustainability goals. In the next five years, the number of Foxconn factories that meet the world-class "lighthouse factory" standards will double; the number of global patent applications will grow by 500% , and applications with patent value will be discovered at an exponential growth rate and shared with the industry.
"This long-term sustainability blueprint symbolizes Foxconn's move into a new phase defined by data transparency, institutionalized goals, and collaborative partnerships," said Wu Chun-yi, Vice President of Foxconn Technology Group and one of the heads of the Sustainability Committee. "With collaborations with hundreds of parks around the world and tens of thousands of suppliers, we are taking steady and quantifiable steps to gradually lead the ecosystem toward a cleaner, more environmentally friendly, and smarter future."
Of the 32 long-term ESG goals announced by Foxconn in 2022 , the vast majority have already been achieved ahead of schedule . This enables the group to steadily move toward its net-zero emissions target by 2050 , while also fulfilling its social and governance commitments, including: improving workplace health and well-being, enhancing sustainable supply chains, and strengthening cybersecurity and board accountability.
Six core strategies are being steadily implemented to exert influence across the entire value chain.
Foxconn's latest sustainable development blueprint is divided into six main axes: "Green Intelligence, Circular Economy, Happy Development, Win-Win Cooperation, Foxconn Governance, and Inclusive Sustainability," and ensures that each main axis has clear long-term quantitative goals.
Taking the long-term goal of green and intelligent development as an example, it is set that by 2030 , all factories will complete industrial wastewater monitoring in accordance with local regulations and build their own AI- based air quality monitoring and early warning systems. By 2030 , the entire group aims to achieve multiple targets, including a 30 % greywater recycling rate, a 75% renewable energy usage rate, self-invested green electricity accounting for more than 30% of the group's renewable energy usage, and a 10% reduction in energy intensity .
Regarding human rights governance, a matter of great concern to the outside world, the plan clearly stipulates that the coverage rate of human rights risk inventory will be increased year by year, with 100% coverage of inventory and risk assessment of all production sites worldwide by 2030. For high-risk issues identified in the inventory, remedial and mitigation measures must be implemented immediately, and 100% completion of follow-up management measures or preventive actions must be ensured.
Meanwhile, we continue to strengthen internal management and labor dispatch management within the group, and systematically promote annual audits to ensure compliance with the group's code of conduct and accountability standards. As a global high-risk contractor, we have achieved 100% implementation of the ISO 45001 occupational safety and health management system standard.
Foxconn aims to include Tier 1 supply chain partners in its new partnership and collaboration strategy.
Another key feature of Foxconn's 2030 sustainability long-term goals is the inclusion of its supply chain partners! This includes initiating a 100% sustainability audit of Tier 1 suppliers and promoting "short-chain, low-carbon manufacturing," aiming for over 80% local sourcing of institutional materials to strengthen operational resilience in global regional economies. Simultaneously, Foxconn is implementing a "zero-exploitation, zero-conflict, zero-concealment" policy for key suppliers, fully adopting international standards to achieve 100% coverage of human rights due diligence, conflict mineral investigations, and ESG ratings .
Foxconn's latest sustainable long-term goals include, for the first time, the Nature-based Solutions (NbS ) initiative. Working with value chain partners, Foxconn aims to launch at least one environmental and ecological restoration action annually in major production areas by 2030, accumulating 80,000 hours of implementation time globally each year . The goals also include completing biodiversity dependence and impact assessments in key areas within the next five years and incorporating related risks into management.
Foxconn Technology Group emphasizes that this sustainability goal represents the group's formal entry into a new phase of "data transparency, goal-oriented system, and partner collaboration." By setting long-term goals, Foxconn integrates sustainability thinking into its daily operations, steadily driving value creation across the entire value chain. This is not only a practice of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs ), but also a sincere commitment to the planet and future generations.

New, Greener Solutions for Etch: Novel Copper Extraction
03/30/2026 | Richard Nichols, GreenSource Engineering“Novel” is a typical marketing phrase that implies new and unique, but often “novel” actually means an established technology being applied to a new field or application. This, in turn, is often driven by newly relevant external motivation.
