Varitron Technologies, a leader in electronic products assembly, is proud to announce the promotions of Jean-François Simoneau to the position Vice-President, Human Capital, and of Francis Mercier to Vice-President, Operations. Both were previously Directors in their respective functions. These promotions reflect their increased responsibilities due to the company’s strong growth since the acquisition of an U.S.-based plant in May 2014.
Jean-François Simoneau has worked in the human resources field for more than 15 years in manufacturing (Fibrek) and in the retail and wholesale trades (Liz Clairborne, Mexx Canada, Reitmans Canada). His past experience includes managing HR teams and various projects involving acquisitions, mergers and corporate consolidations as well as development and application of strategic plans and implementation of processes and systems. A member of the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés (order of certified human resources advisors) and the holder of a bachelor’s degree in human resources, Mr. Simoneau is a manager focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence in both corporate and operational roles, in Canada and in the United States. Management of internal communications has now been added to his human resources responsibilities.
Francis Mercier has more than 20 years’ experience in industrial automation (Fédico) and in product development and industrial processes (Télécité, Alstom). He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Université de Sherbrooke and is a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (Québec order of engineers). As a partner in the start-up of two companies and as someone involved in managing growth, he has developed great expertise in product development (mechanical, electronic and software), value-added management and production (lean management and lean manufacturing), industrial transfers, and product lifecycle management. His expertise will continue to be put to use on the operational side to support Varitron’s fast-growing order book. He will also be responsible now for information technologies.
