Signal Integrity & Metallization
Signal integrity and additive manufacturing, particularly metallization, are hot topics in PCB design and fabrication. PCB layouts are carefully engineered to achieve specific electrical and power performance targets.
Beyond the Rulebook
What happens when the rule book is no longer useful, or worse, was never written in the first place? In today’s fast-moving electronics landscape, we’re increasingly asked to design and build what has no precedent, no proven path, and no tidy checklist to follow. This is where “Design for Invention” begins.
March Madness
From the growing role of AI in design tools to the challenge of managing cumulative tolerances, these articles in this issue examine the technical details, design choices, and manufacturing considerations that determine whether a board works as intended.

Auto PCBs Seen to Drive Chin Poon and Tripod's Profits in 2015
August 18, 2015 | DigitimesEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Taiwan-based PCB makers Chin-Poon Industrial and Tripod Technology are expected to sustain their profit growth in 2015 by benefiting from stable growth in demand for automotive electronics, according to a Digitimes report.
Amid sluggish PC sales and slowdown in smartphone sales worldwide are expected to weigh down the second half results of PCB and other components. On the other hand, Chin-Poon and Tripod, which have moved to reduce their reliance on mass-market devices, are seen to be able to enjoy another year of profit growth in 2015.
Chin-Poon, which already has more than 70% of its revenues coming from the auto industry, has reported total revenues of NT$11.04 billion in the first half of 2015, rising 5.4% from a year earlier.
For its part, Tripod has in recent years reduced its sales ratio for PC-use PCBs while putting more emphasis on HDI boards and other product lines for automotive electronics, servers and networking equipment. With a more diversified product portfolio, the company posted NT$2.02 in EPS for the first half of 2015, according to Digitimes. Tripod's EPS climbed to NT$5.02 in 2014 from NT$4.52 in 2013.
