MC Assembly Deploys Lean Manufacturing Program from Incito
August 10, 2016 | MC AssemblyEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider MC Assembly is introducing the lean management training of the Incito Consulting Group across its three North American manufacturing facilities.
Incito Consulting Group is introducing its five-step deployment model to MC Assembly’s manufacturing plants located in Melbourne, Fla., Billerica, Mass., and Zacatecas, Mexico. The five-step plan offers a social to technical focus that highlights vision, analysis, knowledge, deployment and sustainment.
“As we continue to expand our capabilities and roster of customers, our focus on lean manufacturing principles needs to remain laser focused,” said Luis Ramirez, chief operating officer for MC Assembly. “Incito and its unique training deployment gives us that focus.”
Ramirez said the company began its deployment earlier this year in its Zacatecas facility in Mexico. The rollout centered around an “Incito Man” workshop where MC Assembly employees participated in live simulation exercises that covered everything from service to production. Ramirez said the successful workshop made it easy for MC Assembly executives to expand the scope to include all three plants.
“Our team came away from the training with not only a successful approach to real-work challenges but also an increased focus on applying the lessons to our organization on a daily basis,” said Ramirez, who quickly scheduled a second “Incito Man” session for Zacatecas as well as a rollout in the company’s North American headquarters in Melbourne, Fla. In August. “We’re excited to see where the training takes us.
According to Tom Reed of Incito (Latin for “insight, inspire and rapid change”) the training deployment offered MC Assembly an opportunity to bring the concepts and principles of lean manufacturing, originally made famous from its use by companies such as Toyota, to the company’s most integral workers on the manufacturing floor.
“They saw the value in being able to roll out lean manufacturing to a team of employees who will go on to create a lasting impact for MC Assembly,” Reed said. “That’s where the real value in lean manufacturing lies – with a company’s team members.”
Offering tier one EMS capabilities with a mid-tier focus, MC Assembly currently has operations in Melbourne, Fla., Billerica, Mass. and Zacatecas, Mexico. In January, the company nearly doubled its manufacturing presence in Billerica, moving to a new 58,000-square-foot manufacturing space.

The Chemical Connection: Reducing Defects in Circuit Board Production
06/04/2025 | Don Ball -- Column: The Chemical ConnectionWe all agree that in any manufacturing process, reducing defects in your product induced during manufacture (aka increasing yields) is a good thing. Doing so, however, can be a source of contention and frustration. I don’t pretend to be an expert in this field, because most of my work involves feasibility studies for new concepts or testing improvements made to existing equipment. High yields were usually not a factor; it’s simply about having enough data to prove or disprove a concept or seeing whether improvements to equipment design actually work. However, here are some observations I made visiting quality shops where high production at high yields was important.
Efficiency Unleashed: Breaking Down Lean and Six Sigma
06/02/2025 | Marcy LaRont, PCB007 MagazineAs a child in the late 1970s, I lived near Fremont, California, the home of the GM automotive manufacturing plant. At the time, GM had a terrible reputation for producing poor quality cars that were dwindling in popularity. I toured the GM plant while in elementary school. Each child received a pair of safety glasses before our group was escorted around the plant with our teacher. I remember seeing the car pieces on the line, and workers using blow torches to assemble the car together.
