BEST to Hold Wire and Cable Harness Hands-on Assembly Class

BEST announces the development and release of a practically-oriented wire and cable harness assembly class. As a complement to the IPC-A-620 Acceptability of Wire and Cable Harness class, this modularized class takes a student through the building of a wire harness assembly. The wire and cable harness assembly class, based on a MIL standards and developed by military-trained instructors, will teach students how to read prints, strip and prep wire, add terminals and splices and put together a wire harness board per print. During the class the instructor will weave in concepts as put forth by the latest IPC-A-620 acceptability criteria.
The class will, over a period of two days, cover the following materials:
Module 1: Lab Overview where students will learn how to review and read and interpret cable and wire harness assembly prints
Module 2: Wire Prep and Solder Termination where students will learn how to cut, strip and prep wires per the standard
Module 3: Coaxial Terminations where students will the basics of cutting, stripping and prepping a COAX connector per the standard
Module 4: Pin Crimp Terminations were students will learn how to terminate stamped and formed as well as machined contacts
Module 5: IDC Terminations where students will learn how to terminate, test and inspect IDC terminations using and RJ45 connector per the standard
Module 6: Splicing where students will learn how to prep and splice cables using a variety of methods
Module 7: Lug Crimp Termination and inspection techniques will be taught to students
Module 8: Harness Securing methods and standards will be taught
Class seats for the full (9) modules spread over (2) days is $900 including all of the materials. Select modules may be offered for custom class configurations for larger groups. Training is offered in Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Cleveland as well as aboard the BEST mobile training center.
