Matrix Electronics, a leading North American quick-turn supplier for raw materials to the printed circuit market, announced that they have completed an expansion of their inventory of Flex Circuit Materials to support the growing flex and rigid?flex circuit business.
Matrix continues to support the growth of the Panasonic Felios and the Matrix Plus Flexible Circuit Materials in North America with increased stock of over 250 part numbers in 5 strategically located warehouses in the US and Canada. Inventory includes cut panels and rolls that can support customer panel sizes and extra?long flex circuit designs. Matrix’s newly expanded flex material conversion center in Santa Ana, CA is shipping most customer orders for flex materials within 1?3 days.
Bob Berg, Vice President of Business Development adds, “The flex circuit market continues to grow and has been on fire globally this past year and is expected to continue into 2022 and beyond. This has stressed the raw material supply chain. That fact plus disruptions in global logistics due to Covid has caused a lot of stress with our customers and the key OEM segments in our market. Panasonic’s strong supplier relationships and commitment to the flex materials business plus Matrix commitment to keep a full inventory supply pipeline has allowed us to insulate our flex customers from most of these issues. We are committed to continue to support our customers’ requirements and growth.”

Happy’s Tech Talk #24: Performance and Registration—Coupons to the Rescue
12/06/2023 | Happy Holden -- Column: Happy’s Tech TalkRegistration is one of the most important features for any PCB fabricator, but the capability for multilayers is a lot of work on the fabricator’s part. CAM settings, multilayer lamination, X-ray analysis, AOI measurements, imaging capability, and drill accuracy all play an important part in this capability. Software and panel parametric coupons are important because they aid in registration performance.
8 Simple Rules for Streamlining Your Design
11/30/2023 | Chris Young, Young Engineering ServicesThere are many ways, dozens to be sure, and most likely many more, to streamline a PCB design. My goal here is to pick a single-digit number of rules to abide by, that can be reasonably adhered to, and provide some bang for the buck. These rules are meant to reduce design scope creep, avoid PCB respins, and improve production yields.
Dana on Data: Simplify PCB Documentation
11/29/2023 | Dana Korf -- Column: Dana on DataNovember’s issue of Design007 Magazine had an excellent theme that evolved around design simplification. There were exceptionally good articles about how to reduce over-constrained or needlessly complex designs. One significant time-consuming category is the creation of many design files and drawings which lead to lengthy creation and interpretation time along with the considerable time to resolve conflicting or erroneous information.

In October, I had the great pleasure of discussing the bipartisan Protecting Circuit Boards and Substrates Act with Congressman Moore, who represents Utah’s First Congressional District. He shared his thoughts on how supporting and investing in the domestic PCB industry can help bolster American security.
