SMTA Appoints Tanya Martin New Executive Administrator

The SMTA is pleased to announce that Tanya Martin, SMTA Director of Operations, will assume the role of Executive Administrator on January 1, 2016. Current Executive Administrator, JoAnn Stromberg, retires on December 31, 2015 after 29 years with the Association. JoAnn has worked closely with Tanya over the past 18 months to ensure that she is informed and knowledgeable on all SMTA programs and activities for a smooth transition.
Tanya Martin joined the SMTA staff in 2014. She has over twenty years in the electronics industry working in sales and project management for OEM and EMS companies, a manufacturers’ representative firm, as well as purchasing for a global component distributor. Tanya also brings event planning experience from local fundraising events to professional networking receptions and corporate events.
Regarding her succession, Tanya stated, “Over the past 18 months, I have had the privilege of working alongside JoAnn Stromberg to prepare and train for a smooth transition. I am highly confident in our ability to continue to be an extremely inclusive organization that delivers strong educational programing as well as provide local support through our Chapters and numerous Committees. I am honored to assume this leadership role in January and look forward to the opportunity to continue shaping the great legacy of SMTA.”
SMTA President Bill Barthel remarked, “I and the Board of Directors are very pleased to see Tanya assume this important leadership position within the SMTA. Few organizations have the luxury of such a prolonged and planned transition and through it all Tanya has consistently met or exceeded expectations. Please join us in welcoming her and supporting her in this critical role.”
