Labcenter Implements Ucamco’s Gerber X2 in Proteus Design Suite v8.6

Labcenter Electronics, a leading UK based EDA software company, announces the completion of its support for Gerber X2 in Proteus Design Suite. The output has been fully verified by Ucamco, who confirm it conforms to the X2 specification.
Ucamco’s Gerber X2 format provides a fail safe, standardized method for automatic transfer of layout data and PCB design information from CAD to CAM. Today, more than 20 major software vendors are supporting the Gerber X2 format confirming its status of de facto standard image format for the PCB manufacturing industry.
Labcenter CEO John Jameson commented: “Using the latest version of Gerber X2 shows our commitment to this format and allows our customers to optimize the exchange of PCB fabrication data with the PCB manufacturers.”

I think back to my first APEX EXPO, and the changes since then are too numerous to count. I first attended in 2004, also in Anaheim, back when there was almost no design content in the conference or expo portions of the show. It was just a few years after the downturn, and attendees and exhibitors alike were skittish, almost afraid to show confidence in our industry.
