Current IssueEngineering Economics
The real cost to manufacture a PCB encompasses everything that goes into making the product: the materials and other value-added supplies, machine and personnel costs, and most importantly, your quality. A hard look at real costs seems wholly appropriate.
Alternate Metallization Processes
Traditional electroless copper and electroless copper immersion gold have been primary PCB plating methods for decades. But alternative plating metals and processes have been introduced over the past few years as miniaturization and advanced packaging continue to develop.

Sierra Proto Express Installs atg S-Technology Flying Probe System for HDI Electrical Test
May 18, 2017 | atg Luther & Maelzer GmbHEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Sierra Proto Express has installed a new atg Luther & Maelzer GmbH S2-16DS, a 16-head, double-sided, high-speed, high-accuracy flying probe test system. This acquisition will enable Sierra Proto Express to test some of their latest ultra-fine HDI designs with pad sizes smaller than 25μm.
The atg S2-16DS dual shuttle testers utilize 16 test heads, multiple optical recognition systems, and a wide variety of advanced, high-speed electrical test measurement techniques to electrically test all types of PCBs for continuity and isolation. Board sizes of 24” x 24’ (or larger), with 20μm pad / 40μm pitch technology can be tested at a rate of up to 400 test points per second (depending on test method used). Special options, such as, 4-wire Kelvin test, hi-pot test, Latent defect test, and others can be provided.
