Current IssueIn Pursuit of Perfection: Defect Reduction
For bare PCB board fabrication, defect reduction is a critical aspect of a company's bottom line profitability. In this issue, we examine how imaging, etching, and plating processes can provide information and insight into reducing defects and increasing yields.
Voices of the Industry
We take the pulse of the PCB industry by sharing insights from leading fabricators and suppliers in this month's issue. We've gathered their thoughts on the new U.S. administration, spending, the war in Ukraine, and their most pressing needs. It’s an eye-opening and enlightening look behind the curtain.
The Essential Guide to Surface Finishes
We go back to basics this month with a recount of a little history, and look forward to addressing the many challenges that high density, high frequency, adhesion, SI, and corrosion concerns for harsh environments bring to the fore. We compare and contrast surface finishes by type and application, take a hard look at the many iterations of gold plating, and address palladium as a surface finish.

Tramonto Circuits Achieves 94.96% Overall On-Time Delivery in 2017
January 3, 2018 | Tramonto CircuitsEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Tramonto Circuits is pleased to announce that overall on-time delivery (OTD) in 2017 increased to 94.96%. This key performance indicator confirms Tramonto Circuits’ commitment to improvement and customer requirements.
Motivated by a company poll that showed customers’ top two requirements for their printed circuit board suppliers were “quality” and “on time delivery,” Tramonto Circuits set aggressive goals and included them as key performance indicators (KPI) for 2017. The goal set for OTD was 95% overall, and the goal for RMA requests was twelve or less.
The overall OTD improved to 94.96% for 2017 and a total of 12 RMAs were recorded. This improvement included a 20% increase in part numbers shipped. These numbers, although lofty, show the commitment the company has made to its customers.
“We have improved our OTD by nearly a percentage point again this year,” said President John Talbot. “We have already set 95% OTD goals again for 2018 and strive to improve our RMA numbers as well. Our staff is proud of the accomplishment and stand ready to improve in the coming year.”

Efficiency Unleashed: Breaking Down Lean and Six Sigma
06/02/2025 | Marcy LaRont, PCB007 MagazineAs a child in the late 1970s, I lived in Fremont, California, near the GM automotive manufacturing plant. At the time, GM had a terrible reputation for producing poor quality cars that were dwindling in popularity. I toured the GM plant while in elementary school. Each child received a pair of safety glasses before our group was escorted around the plant with our teacher. I remember seeing the car pieces on the line, and workers using blow torches to assemble the car together.
