Koh Young Posts Record Q2 Revenue
August 7, 2018 | Koh Young AmericaEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Koh Young Technology achieved its largest-ever second-quarter revenue, which increased 22% year-over-year.
Continued Success from Growing AOI Momentum
The revenue came in part due to an increased contribution from 3D AOI business, which increased almost 60% year-over-year. The market has been responding positively to its flagship Zenith 3D AOI model. Coupled with powerful software, the Zenith handles an enormous amount of real data, which helps engineers gain insight into the reflow process and enables faster, better decision making.
Innovation is driving growth Koh Young has been growing rapidly, enjoying double-digit growth year-over-year. Since it was founded just 16 years ago, the company has become one of the fastest growing companies in South Korea. Just last year, it broke through the 200 billion KRW sales mark. Innovation remains the key driver for its growth. After introducing the world’s first 2-way 3D SPI in 2004, Koh Young has continued pushing into new frontiers and driving innovation across many industries. With its uniquely innovative culture, Koh Young continues to raise industry standards with disruptive technologies that overcome inspection system limitations. In fact, the company has become the first South Korean company in the Robo Global “Robotics and Automation Index.”
Extending Growth Momentum beyond SMT Looking to future success, Koh Young expects to expand its footprint beyond the surface mount industry by adapting its core technologies for other markets, while strengthening its technological capabilities. Nearly half of all its employees are directly involved in R&D, so it is no surprise the company has more than 400 patents issued and over 200 patents pending.
To further solidify its position as a technology pioneer, Koh Young has recently moved to a new 26,826 square-foot R&D center in the city of Yongin. The company expects to strengthen its leadership position and expand into new businesses with its new state-of-the-art research lab.
