Matric Earns IPC Certification for Lead Free Electronics Assembly Process Capability
September 13, 2007 | IPCEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
IPC -- Association Connecting Electronics Industries(R) has awarded certification to Matric, an electronic manufacturing services (EMS) company in Seneca, Pa., under IPC's Certification for RoHS Lead Free Electronics Assembly Process Capability program. Matric is the 11th company to earn this distinction.Commenting on the certification, Doug Clark, Matric's general operating manager, said, "Being RoHS certified recognizes our capability in every aspect of day-to-day operations. This includes our sales force working with the customer, engineering services coordinating customer requirements and manufacturing processes, commitment from our entire supply chain, attention to detail in everything we do and a general excellence in our manufacturing and quality operations." He adds, "Every Matric associate is affected by and contributes to our RoHS process. This effort was driven by the executive management team at Matric -- this was a key factor to the success of the project."
The IPC certification program is an audit of an electronics assembly facility -- whether it's an original equipment manufacturing (OEM) or EMS facility -- to determine if the facility is capable of producing product to meet the lead free requirements of the RoHS Directive. The audit is not designed to and cannot ensure a facility will produce RoHS lead free compliant products. The certification is an excellent way for a facility to validate its lead free electronics assembly processes' capabilities to its customers and suppliers.
"Acceptance of the program continues to grow, "said Susan Filz, director of IPC industry programs. "Certified companies, both large and small, have reported that the certification audit was thorough and provided a balanced examination of their lead free processes. And, as part of the program, each company receives constructive feedback, thus validating or improving their internal lead free process preparation."
