ASYS and EKRA Americas to Merge

ATLANTA — ASYS Inc. and EKRA Americas Inc. will merge under the name of ASYS Group Americas Inc. as of January 1, 2010. The regional headquartes for the Americas will be in Suwanee, GA. Personnel and offices will remain in Marlborough, MA; Hillsboro, OR; San Jose, CA; Mexico; and Brazil. The combined company will continue to sell automation products for the SMT, hybrid, semiconductor packaging, and solar markets.ASYS Group Americas will combine its sales and marketing activities as well as its service network in North and South America. “Merging the two companies will be a benefit for small, medium and corporate accounts," claimed Markus Wilkens, the newly appointed president of ASYS Group Americas Inc. Werner Kreibl, co-owner of the ASYS Group, states that Americas sales activities are increasing, adding that the merger improves the companies' network in the future by leveraging the regional strengths of both organizations. Steve Hall, president of Ekra America, will remain with the company and will focus on the implementation of the new company’s sales and marketing strategy and also commented that “to continue to ensure that we are providing the most cost effective and efficient products and solutions for our customers and for the ASYS Group to be as prepared as possible to support our customers as the market returns to growth, a strategy is being put in place that will allow us to fully utilize the strengths of both organizations throughout the Americas. Ultimately our customers will benefit from the implemention of a more efficient sales and service organization.”
ASYS Group Americas will continue to sell marking, handling, depaneling, final assembly, and solar equipment under the brand name of ASYS. Screen printers will be sold under the EKRA brand. EKRA America Inc. provides screen printing solutions for the SMT, hybrid, and semiconductor packaging markets in the Americas. EKRA America’s parent company is EKRA Automatisierungssyteme GmbH and was acquired by the ASYS Group in 2005.
