Interplex, UMG Technologies Collaborate
October 28, 2009 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
COLLEGE POINT, NY — Interplex Industries Inc. is collaborating with UMG Technologies to offer a comprehensive terminal design and automated assembly solution for unique terminal applications. Interplex and UMG have extensive experience working together and already have numerous installations of UMG assembly equipment inserting Interplex-designed terminals in the field.
Under this collaboration, Interplex and UMG will provide customers the opportunity for a turnkey terminal design and assembly solution delivered to the factory floor. With this approach, Interplex and UMG will co-develop terminal designs that optimize assembly machine performance for customer applications. Customers will continue to have the option to work independently with either company.
“This collaboration allows Interplex to provide its customers a complete system solution for direct insert applications, especially those applications utilizing our Press-Fit technology,” said Joe Lynch, Interplex's director of advanced product engineering.
“Compliant press fit attachment is quickly becoming the chosen technology method over pin in paste in PCB assembly” said Ernie Roberts, president of UMG Technologies. “Our relationship with Interplex is technology driven by our customer needs. The results have produced a line of continuous stamped press-fit interconnects and an insertion delivery system that allows for ease in machine change over on the factory floor.”
Interplex Industries Inc. is involved in product design and application development services, metal etching, prototyping, tool design and build, precision metal stamping, die casting, precision machining, plating and finishing, insert and injection molding, assembly and full scale automation services. www.interplex.com.
