Viscom X7056 AOI/AXI Expanded PCB Size Range
February 6, 2009 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
DULUTH, GA Viscom released a new version of the X7056RL, adding support for larger PCB sizes up to 24 × 20". The inspection system performs automatic optical inspection (AOI) and automated X-ray inspection (AXI) simultaneously. This is designed to improve throughput and increase detection of hidden defects, according to the company.
The Viscom X7056 combines high-performance AOI with parallel AXI, in a family of inspection systems. The RL version supports PCB sizes up to 24 × 20". It also offers a 68" width for reduced footprint. The inspection system is equipped with the Viscom microfocus X-ray tube with a resolution of up to 8 µm/pixel. High positioning accuracy reportedly enables high-precision 3D X-ray evaluations.
Integrated optical 8M camera technology provides the best depth of the Viscom AOI systems at comparable throughput. The OnDemandHR function allows users to switch AOI resolution from 23.4 to 11.7 µm/pixel with the full image field size. Color evaluation also is a feature. Combined AOI/AXI inspection and a fast axis system target short inspection and PCB handling times.
The X7056 system family is modular and can be used as a combined system or as a pure AXI system. Different inspection strategies are implemented based on requirements.
