INDIANAPOLIS Specialty Coating Systems Inc. (SCS) was acquired by Berwind Corporation of Philadelphia. Berwind purchased SCS from Bunker Hill Capital L.P. (BHC), which had acquired the company in December 2005 from Cookson Electronics for $55.5 million.
Berwind is a fifth-generation, family-owned private investment management company, with roots dating back to 1886. The company's diversified portfolio comprises manufacturing and service companies serving various market niches.
SCS is a long-term strategic fit for Berwind's portfolio as its operating companies serve a number of industries including pharmaceutical, specialty chemical, automotive, commercial vehicle, and natural resources. Berwind's portfolio of companies employs over 3,500 employees around the world and represents several billion dollars in enterprise value. The acquisition is a testimony to the sustainable growth prospects of our company, said Terry Bush, SCS president and CEO.
