Advanced Image Processing Added to Benchtop AOI
August 28, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. The next-gen TYV B3 benchtop automated optical inspection (AOI) system is equipped with proprietary Fusion Lightning technology.
Adding Fusion Lightning, which consists of more than 600 colored LED lights that project to the PCB surface from various angles (high, medium, and low), is said to improve inspection speed on the B3 system by 3X. An operator can choose lighting color and angle, allowing inspection algorithms to identify previously undetectable features in a component body or solder joints. Lightning Fusion is now standard on all YESTech AOI systems.
The B3 AOI system also offers two top-down viewing Thin Cameras for inspecting miniature components (down to 01005s). Combining a standard-magnification camera with one of higher magnification allows for small component inspection without increased cycle times. The second camera can also be set at a lower magnification for thru-hole or odd-form component inspection.
