PCB Fabricator Sierra Proto Acquires Teknicircuits
June 21, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
SUNNYVALE, Calif. Sierra Proto Express acquired the assets and book-of-business of Teknicircuits (Danbury, Conn.), and will handle PCB fabrication for Teknicircuits' customers through its U.S. businesses and offshore alliances.
Its domestic production center, Sierra Midwest (Chanute, Kan.), is operational, giving Sierra Proto the capacity to take on Teknicircuits' business, said Ken Bahl, president, Sierra Proto. Quick-turn orders will be completed at Sierra Proto Express (Sunnyvale), and Sierra's offshore partners will also boost production, he said. Bill Broadbridge, president, Teknicircuits, added that Sierra Proto has invested approximately $5 million in equipment and facility improvements over 2006, and expects to continue this trend in 2007.
In 2006, Sierra Proto developed a reportedly indestructible, high-reliability, lead-free PCB, which is said to withstand more than 2000 thermal cycles. The company also produces microelectronic rigid PCBs with 1-mil lines and spacing. These products will be available to all Teknicircuits clients.
