Pre-Reflow AOI Offers Real-time Accuracy
March 15, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
Santa Clara, Calif. Landrex Technologies, Inc., introduced a pre-reflow automated optical inspection (AOI) system, the Optima 7250 Caliper, which features advanced, high-precision measurement technology. It is said to provide accurate real-time feedback of component-placement errors.
Part of the Optima 7200-series pre-reflow AOI system family, the 7250 Caliper can achieve a false fail rate of less than 20 ppm. It reaches SMT component-position measurement accuracy of 6-sigma on form factors as small as 0201.
System software is reportedly intuitive and requires no experience. Users import the CAD file for the PCB, and the Caliper learns the assembly automatically and selects a combination of inspection techniques for each component. It uses IPC-610 rules to determine and report placement data.
