Hand-soldering Station Offers Preset Temps.
February 2, 2007 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
APEX, N.C. The Weller WD1002 digital soldering station from Cooper Hand Tools offers users three programmable preset temperatures, ranging from 150° to 850°F. Users can set one button to an idle temperature, enabling instant cool down after soldering.
The unit also includes an LCD display with temperature settings visible on-screen; 85-W, single-channel power; an 80-W pencil with silver heating element; and an adjustable, antistatic stand with tip storage.
Preset buttons are programmed by selecting a temperature, then depressing a button for two seconds. The pencil includes a short and long grip and is said to enable rapid production with lead-free, high-mass, or other challenging components. The silver element reportedly reduces thermal loss and boosts recovery time.
