RoHS-compliant Adapter Eases Upgrades
November 8, 2006 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
FRENCHTOWN, N.J. Aries Electronics introduced a RoHS-compliant version of its SOWIC-to-DIP Correct-A-Chip adapter, which enables users to upgrade to a small-outline wide integrated circuit (SOWIC) from a dual in-line package (DIP) without changing PCB layout.
Available on 7.62-mm-pitch centers, and operating at 105°C, the ARI-A-7254 is constructed of 1.56-mm FR-406 or IS410 per IPC 4101A/24/26/28, with 1 oz. of copper traces on both sides. Pins are 360-1/2 hard brass alloy per UNS C36000 ASTM-B16-85, with 10 µ"-minimum gold plating per MIL-G-45204 over 100-µ" nickel plating per QQ-N-290. Suggested PCB hole diameter is 0.71 mm, and all tolerances are 0.13 mm.
The adapter is WEEE- and RoHS-compliant, though Aries will continue to offer the standard non-RoHS-compliant version of the adapter for customers requiring tin/lead plating.
