Asymtek Undertakes Company Realignment
August 1, 2006 |Estimated reading time: 1 minute
CARLSBAD, CA Asymtek, a Nordson company, announced a series of corporate rearrangements related to Robert Ciardella's leaving the position of company president. Ciardella, who co-founded Asymtek in 1983, will move to an advisory position. A company representative stated that Ciardella will pursue other interests, while remaining an integral part of Asymtek.
The company stated that the extensive corporate rearrangement corresponds with their long-term competitive strategy. Ciardella's career change provided an opportunity to refocus the company on new markets, stated Asymtek's representative. "Jetting applications have opened new markets," she noted. The presidency change also necessitated other, subsequent appointments.
Succeeding Ciardella is John Byers, who joined the company in 1994. Byers previously managed Asymtek's global technical support organization and the conformal coating business group. Since late 2005, he directed the Spectrum business group which guides all of the company's activities related to the Spectrum dispensing product line.
During the restructuring, Alec Babiarz, Asymtek co-founder, was appointed president, business development and will maintain sales and marketing responsibilities. Greg Hartmeier, prior business unit director of the Century group, will lead the Spectrum business group as v.p. of business units. He will also supervise supply chain management, logistics, and the Spares Group. Greg Wood accepted the position of vice president in sales, which encompasses global accounts. Sherry DeLoach became vice president of finance. The former director of finance will assume responsibilities for finance, customer service, and information system groups.
