NPL Consults with Industry Advisors on New Materials Program
September 2, 2004 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
Teddingham, UK — The three combined Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) and industry funded materials programs at NPL are formulated on a rolling basis of one every year.
The current program focuses on processing, and is envisaged to include a significant part based on electronics interconnection areas as well as more forward-looking areas of functional, nano and biomaterials. The electronics project selection meeting was well represented, with vibrant and incisive discussion clarifying the benefits of some key projects over others. The group prioritized lead-free reliability research.
The resulting 66 projects were then voted on in a Web and workshop forum, with 160 and 110 people from industry taking part, respectively. The prioritized list of projects will now go forward to the DTI for final selection.
