TT electronics Acquires Optek Technology in Major Expansion of Sensor, Optoelectronic Capabilities

Raleigh, N.C. and Carrolton, Texas — Global electronics supplier TT electronics PLC has acquired optoelectronic manufacturer Optek Technology Inc. from privately held Dyson-Kissner-Moran Corp. (DKM)With 2002 annual sales of approximately $70 million, Optek will significantly expand TT electronics sensor portfolio, adding optoelectronic as well as fiber optic technology to the extensive offering of automotive sensors, hybrid assemblies and passive components from TT electronics divisions such as IRC (resistors, sensors, automotive assemblies); AB Elektronik (automotive sensors and switches); BI Technologies (sensors, resistors, magnetics); Welwyn (resistors and hybrid assemblies); and MMG (magnetic materials and ferrites).
Optek Technologies is a leading manufacturer of optoelectronic sensors, including infrared LEDs (transmitters) and photologic detectors (receivers), fiber optic sensors, as well as Hall effect and magneto-resistive sensors for the automotive, industrial, communications, office equipment, aerospace/defense and medical markets.
